Conder is in the environmental business. We assist our customers in finding the most appropriate, environmentally friendly solutions for their water and wastewater storage, treatment and pumping solutions.

Water conservation is an issue that affects everyone today. It requires government, utilities, industry, the agricultural sector and homeowners to become involved in the process. It needs to be a combined effort to preserve our largest natural resource, and at Conder we strive to be part of that effort.

Modern environmental legislation and regulations mean the requirements for water conservation, improved water quality and stringent standards are tougher than ever - and likely to become tougher again. So we use innovative products, services and systems to meet these requirements both now and into the future, with solutions that make environmental as well as economic sense.

Environmental management system

Conder is committed to minimising the impact of our business activities on the environment, and these commitments are reflected in our standards and accreditations.

Our Group operates a certified environmental management system, ISO 14001:2004, the internationally recognised standard for the operation of water and wastewater storage, treatment and pumping solutions.  EPS has also been certified with Achilles Verify. The EPS Group acknowledges the responsibilities placed on it by the relevant environmental legislation and regulations on the environmental impacts of its activities, products and services.

Although the management recognises that statutory obligations and regulations are accepted as a minimum, we take all reasonable steps to ensure that our organisation complies with the legislation and other requirements including a commitment to continued improvement and prevention of pollution. Our environmental management system ensures we meet all of our regulatory obligations.

Environmental impact reviews

As part of our continuous improvement of the system, internal environmental impacts are considered and reviewed and action plans are produced, implemented and monitored for improvements in environmental performance. This covers waste production and waste minimisation initiatives across the Group.

As part of this ongoing environmental impact review the following initiatives have been introduced:

• Capturing all amounts of waste including packaging of both produced items and supplied items
• Review of suppliers' use of recycling systems with bulk chemical supplies as an example
• The introduction of Recycling Teams on key sites. Individuals monitor, review and publish details of on-site recycling. This is then reviewed as part of senior management meetings and divisional meetings
• All sites and offices monitor waste packaging and have implemented recycling systems to meet both company policy objectives on waste minimisation and these systems also feed into legislative requirements such as WEEE and RoHS
• Use of styrene free resin to eliminate air contamination

The items listed above are part of other ongoing initiatives to measure and reduce waste throughout the supply chain. In order to meet our environmental objectives, Conder provides sufficient resources for information, training and supervision of its workforce and do everything reasonably practicable to ensure its subcontractors provide similar resources and arrangements.

It is the duty of all involved with the company, including suppliers, subcontractors and visitors, to take all reasonable precautions to improve our environmental performance by preventing pollution, reducing waste, minimising hazardous waste, and recycling waste as much as possible.
